In 1997, Co-founded the first pro longboard series in Hawai’i offering surfers the opportunity to earn World Surf League (formerly Association of Surfing Professionals) points towards the World Longboard Championships.
In 2003, realizing that the only wooden surfboards you saw were in museums, I had the idea to create some wooden surfboards in the traditional Hawaiian way. We collaborated with Tom Pohaku Stone to shape 10 wooden surfboards and held the first traditional Hawaiian wooden surfboard contest in Waikiki.

A competitive longboarder and fine artist studying Hawaiian practices, he leads the art direction. As the eldest son, he translates his award winning visions and experience with art installations onto apparel making each piece a work of art.
When he is not surfing Queen's in Waikiki, he can be found painting Hawaiian murals and Kapi'olani Community College and attending the Fine Arts program at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

Ty is attending the University of Hawai'i at Manoa pursuing mechatronics - a multidisciplinary engineering field that combines mechanical, electrical, computer, and automation technologies to create smarter systems.
The 2nd eldest son’s talents extend to photo/videography, building motor bikes and 3D printing custom car parts.
BEACH BREAK
The sand we use does not come from any of our beaches. Instead we source it locally and sustainably.
Our black sand is a proprietary mixture of white sand, crushed black sand and olivine - closely
mimicking what occurs naturally in the Hawaiian islands.
